Background
In an effort to prevent the need to drill a second well and to conserve water in the Trinity Aquifer, the Parker County Livestock Improvement Association (PCLIA) applied for and received a grant from the Upper Trinity Groundwater Conservation District (UTGCD) to construct and install a rainwater harvesting system on their newly constructed livestock arena. The system will help meet the water use demands associated with the fairgrounds’ annual events, primarily by providing water for livestock consumption and washing during stock shows and rodeos. It will additionally serve as a summertime water source for fire trucks, minimize runoff and erosion, and provide an educational tool for the District.
