Historical Water Use Estimates and TWDB Water Demand Projections

The data in this interactive dashboard displays historical water use estimates and water demand projections for 16 Regional Water Planning Groups and 254 counties in Texas. The TWDB considers six broad categories of water demand, which include: irrigation, livestock, manufacturing, mining, municipal, and steam-electric power.

Note: The charts are based upon static data that is updated periodically as additional or more accurate data becomes available through water use survey responses.

Historical Population Estimates and TWDB Population Projections

These interactive charts display historical population estimates, which are based on U.S. Census Bureau data, and future population projections, which were developed by the TWDB for the 16 Regional Water Planning Groups and 254 counties in Texas.

Livestock Inventory and Water Use Estimates

This dashboard displays annual livestock inventory and water use estimates. Inventory estimates are based on U.S. Department of Agriculture National Agricultural Statistics Service data, as well as supplemental data sources. Inventory data is used to estimate water use.

State Water Plan Comparison Tool

This interactive tool compares the data developed for each State Water Plan (SWP) developed since 2002. The data can be viewed statewide, by Regional Water Planning Group, by county, and/or by water demand category (irrigation, livestock, manufacturing, mining, municipal, and steam-electric power). Note: The chart is based upon static data that is updated periodically as additional or more accurate data becomes available through water use survey responses.
