Post Oak Savannah GCD Rainwater Harvesting Grant Program
Overview
- Category: Educational
- Organization Location: Milam and Burleson Counties
- Activity: Directly links funding for rainwater harvesting systems with public education.
Background
Post Oak Savannah GCD’s Rainwater Harvesting Rebate Program has helped fund 82 systems that include 172 cisterns with a combined storage capacity of just over 504,000 gallons. This has helped residents reduce their reliance on personal wells and public water systems, while also helping eliminate erosion and mitigate flooding. The program blends education, funding, and long-term water planning as participants must complete a rainwater harvesting class to be eligible for assistance. Further, the rebate and adaptive nature of the program empower landowners to make water-smart decisions that work for their homes, land, and financial situations.
