Flood Easements for Water Surface Elevation Impacts
Project summary:
To research and develop a non-structural mitigation approach that evaluates the potential for non-structural mitigation measures to compensate landowners whose property faces increased flood risk due to flood damage reduction projects. The research will specifically consider obtaining easements from landowners.
Project deliverable(s):
Review measures taken by communities to address adverse impacts associated with flood risk reduction projects, existing easements, processes for obtaining easements, best practices and limitations to mitigate flood impacts, and summarize findings in a report.
