In 2015 the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) contracted with the Bureau of Economic Geology and INTERA, Inc. to map the fresh, brackish, and saline groundwater in the Carrizo-Wilcox, Queen City, and Sparta aquifers mainly in Groundwater Management Area 13.
