Cedar Creek Reservoir (Colorado River Basin)
Cedar Creek Reservoir (also known as Lake Fayette or Fayette County Reservoir) is an off-channel reservoir and is located eight miles east of LaGrange in Fayette County, on Cedar Creek which is a tributary of the Colorado River, The reservoir is owned and operated by the Lower Colorado River Authority for cooling to power station which provides electrical generation to Fayette County and surrounding areas. The lake is also used for recreational purpose. Construction of the dam began 1977 and was completed in 1978 same year. The dam is an earthfill embankment of about 15,259 feet long and 96 feet high. The reservoir has a capacity of 71,400 acre-feet encompassing a surface area of 2,400 acres at the conservation pool elevation of 390 feet above mean sea level. The drainage area above the dam is only 6 square miles. However, water would be pumped from the Colorado River to maintain reasonable water level if water is lower in the reservoir.
