Identification of Potential Brackish Groundwater Production Areas – Gulf Coast Aquifer

Project Summary:

In 2016 the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) contracted with INTERA, Inc. to delineate fresh, brackish, and saline groundwater, both vertically and horizontally, in the Gulf Coast Aquifer, calculate the volumes of those waters, and identify potential brackish groundwater production areas.

This includes submitting a report to the Texas Legislature by December 1, 2016. Results from this study include estimates of the extent, volume, and availability of potential brackish groundwater production areas in the Gulf Coast Aquifer. Results will aid in regional water planning and state water resources analysis.
