Statewide Building Footprint Dataset Enhancement-Pilot
The goal of this project is to generate guidance for enhancing an existing building footprint (BF) dataset that TxGIO maintains. This project will identify and address gaps in the current version of the dataset, conduct a literature review to research and recommend various methods to collect and process spatial and tabular aspects of the datasets, conduct a pilot study area to test recommended methods and generate an initial updated database. This project will develop a user guide that provides a blueprint for future enhancements and long-term maintenance of this dataset. The dataset is expected to support various use cases within floodplain management, water management, research programs, and others. For example, this dataset will support generation of statewide, structure level flood risk assessments such as average annual losses (AALs) and benefit cost analyses (BCA) associated with flood mitigation actions. The dataset also has utility in flood planning and emergency response and management operations.
