Conservation Education
Educational programs offered by the TWDB focus on building understanding about water resources, state water planning and water conservation across the state. Educational programs include K-12 school-based programs, training and workshops for adults, distribution of conservation literature, and municipal outreach and awareness programs.
In order to better serve the school-based audience, TWDB Kids was created as the web portal to the K-12 educational resources offered by the agency. The major educational programs of TWDB include Major Rivers (4th and 5th grade), Raising Your Water IQ (middle school) and Water Exploration (high school), are linked through this web site which also features visualizations and interactive games to help students, educators and parents learn about key concepts in water resources and conservation. All of TWDB's major educational programs were designed with the assistance of Texas educators and are correlated with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and STAAR objectives in order to meet requirements for acceptable classroom curricula.

Water IQ: Know your water
A statewide public outreach water conservation program that educates Texans about water conservation. The Water IQ: Know your water program is designed to complement and support existing local and regional water conservation efforts.
Water IQ provides a broad level of outreach and offers an easy-to-identify brand, a variety of materials, and a network of groups and communities dedicated to educating Texans about water conservation. Expand Public Awareness
TWDB also have a guide available for water utilities that would like to expand or develop a public awareness program for water conservation. Developing a Water Conservation Public Awareness Program: A Guide for Utilities helps utilities implement goals for an effective program by making use of the mass media. Topics include working with local media, reaching an audience, tracking media coverage, and other resources.
