Tide Forecasts & Hindcasts

In Partnership with the Texas General Land Office

Tide forecasts are supported in part by the Texas General Land Office's Oil Spill Prevention and Response Program.  Tide forecasts and hindcasts for select stations within the bays or along the Gulf coastline, which are presented below, are based on computed harmonic constants derived from recent data which the Texas Coastal Ocean Observation Network (TCOON) collected at each station.  The data is stored by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the stations are labeled with the original TCOON #ID and their NOAA ID. The data period for making the derivations is typically three years, but may be as short as 10 months, depending on the station.  Computed hindcasts (solid lines on graphs) are compared to recently measured (but unverified) tide data collected through TCOON.

For information on offshore and nearshore currents and winds, go to the: Texas Automated Buoy System (TABS).
