Seymour and Blaine aquifers Groundwater Availability Model (GAM)

A refined groundwater availability model for the portion of the Seymour Aquifer located in Haskell, Knox, and Baylor counties is now available. See this page for more information.

This map shows the extent and location of the Seymour and Blaine aquifers Groundwater Availability Model. The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) contracted with Intera, Inc. (who was teamed with Water Prospecting and Resource Consulting LLC, Parsons Engineering Science Inc., Enprotec Inc., and several individual experts) to develop a model of the Seymour Aquifer in Texas. The model includes the Blaine Aquifer as a lower layer. The model was completed in 2004.

In 2008, the TWDB contracted again with Intera, Inc. (teamed with The Bureau of Economic Geology and Water Prospecting and Resource Consultants, LLC) to develop a refined model for the Seymour Aquifer in Knox, Haskell, and Baylor counties. The conceptual model was completed in 2012. The Texas Water Development Board has developed a refined groundwater availability model for the Seymour Aquifer in Knox, Haskell, and Baylor counties based largely on the conceptual model developed by INTERA, Inc. The project was completed in early 2014.

The TWDB is now contracting with INTERA, Inc. to complete version 2.01 of the Seymour and Blaine aquifers GAM. This new GAM will combine the efforts of the previous models, refine grid cell size for the Seymour Aquifer, will be coded using MODFLOW 6 software, and will use PESTPP-IES to create an ensemble of models for history matching. Model development began in late 2024 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.

Model Files and Associated Data

Please see the GAM files download page for the current model files and associated data.

Aquifer data is only available as a package for the entire model area and requires GIS software for processing. Please see the GAM files download page for aquifer data.
