Invitation to Stakeholder Advisory Forum for the Lower Rio Grande Valley Groundwater Transport Model7/13/2016 at 2:30 PM

You are invited to participate in the Stakeholder Advisory Forum (SAF) for the Lower Rio Grande Valley Groundwater Transport Model funded by the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) Water Research for Groundwater Availability Modeling Program. The SAF will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 2:30 PM CDT in the Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council Transit Center located at 510 South Pleasantview Drive, Weslaco, Texas, 78596. The primary objective of this SAF is the presentation and discussion of the Draft Conceptual Model developed under this program. The presentation topics for this forum include: 1) Brief Overview of Project 2) Project Status a. Tasks Completed 3) Overview of Conceptual Model a. Aquifer framework b. Inflows and outflows c. Groundwater salinity 4) Next Steps a. Develop and calibrate numerical groundwater model b. Update conceptual model, if needed We encourage your input, questions, and discussion on these topics at the SAF. A copy of the Draft Conceptual Model Report can be found on the TWDB website at: http://www.twdb.texas.gov/groundwater/models/research/lrgv_t/lrgv_t.asp. We invite members of the SAF to provide comments on the draft report by July 20, 2016. Comments should be sent to the TWDB contract manager for the Lower Rio Grande Valley Groundwater Transport Model project, Dr. Rohit R. Goswami, Ph.D. (512.463.0495; Rohit.Goswami@twdb.texas.gov). Stakeholder participation is critical to the development of this aquifer model and the success of the Groundwater Availability Modeling program. Stakeholder participation is promoted in the Groundwater Availability Modeling program through public stakeholder meetings. GSI Environmental Inc., in cooperation with the TWDB, is holding this meeting as part of the model development process. This public forum is meant to update stakeholders on the progress of model development and to solicit your comments and discussion. Anyone interested in the development of this model is invited and encouraged to participate. The presentation and a summary of questions and answers from the meeting will be posted to the TWDB website.
