Drilling and Logging the Ideal Well

Project Summary:

The objective is to prepare a resource document that will focus on how to drill and log the ideal exploratory brackish groundwater wells. The wells should be designed to optimize data collection efforts for mapping and modeling brackish groundwater production zones and monitoring the impact of brackish groundwater production on adjacent aquifers. The document should assume that the districts and stakeholders are interested in seeking a permit for either a municipal public water supply or electric generation project and the potential permittee has more than one potential land tract for a well site.

This resource document will focus on the data collection aspect of drilling and logging the ideal exploratory well and should be written in a manner that provides guidance for district managers or board members, stakeholders, or for any other potential end user. This resource document will be an update and expansion of the existing Brackish Groundwater Exploration Guidance Manual (LBG-Guyton, 2008).
