Corpus Christi Aquifer Storage and Recovery Feasibility Project
Project Summary:
The Corpus Christi Aquifer Storage and Recovery Conservation District, in partnership with the City of Corpus Christi, will perform an exploratory drilling program near the city. The program will entail drilling test wells, geochemical analysis of the subsurface environment for aquifer storage and recovery suitability, and groundwater modeling to evaluate potential aquifer storage and recovery operations.

- Benefits:
- This ASR feasibility program is important to the region to promote their goals to diversify regional water supplies, provide cost-effective regional water supplies to meet competing and growing demands, and improve system operations and promote greater fiscal discipline.
- The program will assist in the development of a full-scale aquifer storage and recovery system for the region, firming up water supply in the event of drought. This is the first drilling program to evaluate the brackish portion of the Gulf Coast Aquifer as a potential storage location. Data collected and lessons learned will benefit other water purveyors considering aquifer storage and recovery investigations in the brackish portion of the Gulf Coast Aquifer.
