AUSTIN – (January 29, 2015) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $2,875,000 from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund to the Greater Texoma Utility Authority on behalf of the City of Van Alstyne (Grayson and Collin counties). The assistance will finance construction for a water supply project.
The City could save approximately $342,334 over the life of the loan by using the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund.
The City is one of the fastest growing areas in the state of Texas, with a population projected to double between the years 2010 and 2020. Because of this growth, the City is in need of additional water sources. With the assistance approved today, the City will be able to connect to the Collin-Grayson Municipal Alliance (CGMA) transmission line, providing an additional water source to meet the area’s growing water needs.
In September 2014, the TWDB provided $485,000 in financial assistance for the planning and design phases of this project.
The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
