Texas Water Development Board approves a $495,000 loan to the Markham Municipal Utility District (Matagorda County) to finance wastewater system improvements

AUSTIN - (February 28, 2013) - The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution a loan in the amount of $495,000 to the Markham Municipal Utility District (Matagorda County) from the TWDB Fund to finance wastewater system improvements.
The Markham Municipal Utility District intends to use the funds to replace old clay pipes that have become brittle in its existing wastewater collection system.
The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
