AUSTIN - (February 28, 2013) - The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution a loan in the amount of $3,468,600 to the City of Edcouch (Hidalgo County) consisting of a loan in the amount of $1,055,000 and $2,413,600 in loan forgiveness from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund to finance water system improvements.

The City of Edcouch intends to use the funds to replace and rehabilitate its wastewater collection system. The system currently exhibits elevated levels of inflow and infiltration due to the high groundwater table and poor stormwater drainage.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
