Texas Water Development Board approves $50,000,000 in financial assistance to the San Antonio Water System to finance water system improvements

AUSTIN (October 17, 2012) The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution a loan in the amount of $50,000,000 to the San Antonio Water System, acting on the behalf of the City of San Antonio (Bexar County), from the Water Infrastructure Fund to finance water system improvements.

The San Antonio Water System intends to use the funds to make improvements related to the Brackish Groundwater Desalination Project.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
