Texas Water Development Board approves $2,384,878 in loans to the City of Breckenridge to finance water system improvements

AUSTIN - (July 19, 2012) - The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution loans in the amount of $2,384,878 to the City of Breckenridge (Stephens County), consisting of a loan in the amount of $1,680,000 and $704,878 in loan forgiveness from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund to finance water system improvements.

The City of Breckenridge intends to use the funds to rehabilitate the chemical feed system, the solids contact clarifiers, and dual media filters. The project will also add a third dual media filter as well as a number of other improvements required by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
