Texas Water Development Board approves a $1,154,000 grant to the North Alamo Water Supply Corporation to finance wastewater system improvements

AUSTIN - (June 21, 2012) - The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution a grant in the amount of $1,154,000 to the North Alamo Water Supply Corporation (Hidalgo County) from the Economically Distressed Areas Program to finance wastewater system improvements.

The North Alamo Water Supply Corporation intends to use the funds to complete planning, acquisition and design activities of the NW Donna Colonias Regional Wastewater System, a project that will ultimately provide wastewater service to six colonia areas located northwest of the City of Donna in Hidalgo County.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
