Texas Water Development Board approves $2,907,908 in loans to the City of Marlin to finance water system improvements

AUSTIN - (June 21, 2012) - The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution loans in the amount of $2,907,908 to the City of Marlin (Falls County), consisting of a loan in the amount of $1,680,000 and loan forgiveness in the amount of $1,227,908 from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund to finance water system improvements.
The City of Marlin intends to use the funds to continue its water distribution line replacement program and replace existing water meters with an automatic meter reading system in a continuing effort to reduce the water losses within the City.
The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
