Texas Water Development Board approves a $1,560,000 loan to the Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 46 to finance water system improvements

AUSTIN - (February 2, 2012) - The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution a $1,560,000 loan from the Texas Water Development Fund to the Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 46 (Harris County) to finance water system improvements.
The Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 46 (District) has two ground storage tanks and hydropneumatic tanks that need repairs and recoating. In addition, the plant’s original generator and chemical feed system are nearing the end of their useful lives and need to be replaced. With these funds, the District will remove and replace the two aging ground storage tanks with one new, large tank; rehabilitate the hydropneumatic tanks; replace chemical feed equipment; and remove and replace the plant’s backup generator.
The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
