Texas Water Development Board approves a $3,600,000 loan to the Bluebonnet Water Supply Corporation to finance water system improvements

AUSTIN - (February 2, 2012) - The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution a $3,600,000 loan from the Rural Water Assistance Fund to the Bluebonnet Water Supply Corporation (Bell and McLennan Counties) to finance water system improvements.
The Bluebonnet Water Supply Corporationís (Corporation) transmission main that runs from its treatment plant to the Moody pump station has experienced numerous failures over the past 10 years. With these funds, the Corporation will design and construct the first phase of a three phase project to replace the deteriorated line. This project consists of installing 21,200 feet of transmission line along the east side of State Highway 317.
The Corporation is a wholesale water provider that contracts with Moffatt Water Supply Corporation, Pendleton Water Supply Corporation, Elm Creek Water Supply Corporation, Spring Valley Water Supply Corporation, and the cities of Moody, Bruceville-Eddy, McGregor and Woodway.
The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
