Texas Water Development Board approves $2,195,000 loan to the Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 33 to finance wastewater system improvements

AUSTIN - (August 18, 2011) - The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution a $2,195,000 loan from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund to the Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 33 (Harris County) to finance wastewater system improvements.

The Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 33 (District) plans to use the funds to improve its existing wastewater system by rehabilitating segments of its aging sanitary sewer collection system. The District will rehabilitate approximately 34,200 linear feet of pipe.

The District is 15 miles northeast of Houston, adjacent to the North Sam Houston Parkway. The system currently serves 2,282 water and wastewater connections.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
