Job Description Summary

Performs moderately complex (journey-level) data analysis and geographic information system (GIS) work including, water use and planning data QA/QC, analyses and research, data visualization, application development and technical assistance. Work involves administering the web-based Texas Water Service Boundary (TWSB) Viewer application, planning and coordinating activities with Information Technology (IT) and other program areas for future application development, providing GIS and data services and customers assistance to internal and external users; writing technical reports; developing innovative ways to improve and disseminate water use and planning data by developing thematic maps and interactive dashboards; serving as the division’s GIS leading expert managing datasets and providing data assistance and mapping solutions for the regional and state water planning processes. May train others. Works under general supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Reports to the Manager of the Water Use and Planning Data (WUPD) Department.
