Permitting Guidance Manual to Dispose Desalination Concentrate into a Class II Injection Well

Project Summary:

This aim of the study is to develop a manual that describes the process by which a Class II injection well can be permitted as a Class I injection well for the disposal of desalination concentrate. Disposal of desalination concentrate is a major expense in and a frequent roadblock to pursuing desalination. Currently, Texas has more than 49,000 permitted Class II wells but there is no documented process by which desalination concentrate can be disposed off in these wells.
