Marathon Aquifer Groundwater Availability Model (GAM)

This map shows the extent and location of the Marathon Aquifer.The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) contracted with Daniel B. Stephens & Associates (DBS&A) to develop a conceptual model of the Marathon Aquifer in Texas. The conceptual model report was completed in 2022. TWDB will use this information to develop a Groundwater Availability Model for the Marathon Aquifer.

The TWDB has also contracted with Daniel B. Stephens & Associates (DBS&A) to develop the first numerical groundwater model for the Marathon Aquifer. The work commenced in late 2024 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
