AUSTIN (September 6, 2018) The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $1 million, consisting of $500,000 in loan forgiveness from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) and $500,000 in loan forgiveness from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF), to the City of Bevil Oaks (Jefferson County). The financial assistance will allow the City to finance Hurricane Harvey recovery projects.

The $500,000 in loan forgiveness provided by the DWSRF will allow the City to finance the planning, design, and construction costs associated with a water system improvement project. The project includes replacing electrical controls and a generator that were inundated by water during Hurricane Harvey. It also includes the installation of a new control building on elevated steel above the 8-foot flood level and a separate elevated structure west of the plant to elevate the control panel.

With the $500,000 from the CWSRF, the City will finance the planning, design, and construction phases of wastewater system improvements. The project includes elevating and replacing electrical controls, pumps, and standby power generation equipment. These replacements are necessary due to flooding caused by Hurricane Harvey.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
