AUSTIN – (December 14, 2015) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of a $2,100,000, consisting of a $1,050,000 loan and a $1,050,000 grant from the Economically Distressed Areas Program (EDAP) to the City of Kosse (Limestone County). The City will be able to finance the construction costs associated with a water supply project.
In addition to the savings from the grant, the City could save approximately $26,000 over the life of the loan by using EDAP.
With the assistance approved today, the City will be able to construct a water treatment plant and two water supply wells. The City will also construct transmission lines connecting the new water treatment plant and water wells to the City’s distribution system. The City previously received $449,000 from EDAP for the planning, acquisition, and design phases of this project. The project is identified as a primary water supply strategy in the State Water Plan.
The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
