Texas Water Development Board approves $3,504,409 to the Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 50 (Harris County) for water system improvements

AUSTIN – (December 14, 2015) –┬áThe Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $3,504,409, consisting of a $2,470,000 loan and $1,034,409 in loan forgiveness, from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund to the Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 50. The District will be able to finance the design and construction costs associated with water system improvements.

In addition to the savings from the loan forgiveness, the District could save approximately $420,000 over the life of the loan by using Drinking Water State Revolving Fund.

With the assistance approved today, the District will be able to complete water system improvements at the Crosby-Lynchburg and St. Charles water plants. The project includes increasing water storage capacity and upgrading the existing water distribution system.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
