Texas Water Development Board approves $17,195,000 in financial assistance to the City of Amarillo (Potter & Randall counties) for a water supply project

AUSTIN – (June 16, 2015) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $17,195,000 from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund to the City of Amarillo (Potter & Randall counties). The City will be able to finance the construction costs associated with a water supply project.
The City could save approximately $2,666,394 over the life of the loan by using the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund.
The City plans to install a 36-inch pipeline to provide potable water from the City’s Osage Water Treatment Plant to the Arden Road pump station. The City will also add a 2.5 million-gallon storage tank and a 7 million-gallon per day pump.
The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
