AUSTIN - (January 31, 2013) - The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution a loan in the amount of $200,000 to the City of Lawn (Taylor, Callahan and Coleman Counties) from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund to finance water system improvements.

The City of Lawn intends to use the funds to either locate a new source of water through a regional provider or construct a new surface water treatment plant to replace the city’s old, deteriorating plant. The city will also plan and design improvements to reduce water loss.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
