Texas Water Development Board approves $512,325 in financial assistance to the City of Moran to finance water system improvements

AUSTIN - (October 17, 2012) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution the amount of $512,325 to the City of Moran (Shackelford County) consisting of a loan in the amount of $180,000 and $332,325 in loan forgiveness from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund to finance water system improvements.
The City of Moran intends to use the funds to replace approximately 14,000 linear feet of existing deteriorated galvanized, cast iron, and asbestos cement water distribution system lines and associated appurtenances to improve the pressures within the system and reduce water losses.
The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
