Texas Water Development Board approves a $695,000 loan to the City of Cumby to finance water and wastewater system improvements

AUSTIN - (July 19, 2012) - The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution a loan in the amount of $695,000 to the City of Cumby (Hopkins County) from the Texas Water Development Fund to finance water and wastewater system improvements.

The City of Cumby intends to use the funds for the design and construction phases of both a water and a wastewater project. The project consists of the relocation of 2,500 feet of both water and wastewater lines and replacement of approximately 1,000 feet of 8-inch waterline with 10-inch waterline.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
