Texas Water Development Board approves a $3,820,000 loan to the City of Mount Vernon to finance wastewater system improvements

AUSTIN - (April 19, 2012) - The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution a loan in the amount of $3,820,000 from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund to the City of Mount Vernon (Franklin County) to finance wastewater system improvements.

The City of Mount Vernon’s aging system is experiencing infiltration and inflow problems. With these funds, the City plans to rehabilitate 21,000 linear feet of gravity sewer and make improvements to a sewer lift station

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
