Texas Water Development Board approves $2,070,000 loan to City of Center to finance wastewater system improvements

AUSTIN - (December 15, 2011) - The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution a $2,070,000 loan from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund to the City of Center (Shelby County) to finance wastewater system improvements.
The City of Center (City) will use the funds to construct a central lift station and install 21,075 feet of gravity sewer mains.
The City is located approximately 25 miles northeast of the City of Nacogdoches, near the Texas-Louisiana border. The City’s 2010 population was 5,237, and its utility system provides service to approximately 2,444 water connections and 2,027 sewer connections.
The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
