Texas Water Development Board approves $3,170,841 in financial assistance to the San Antonio Water System to finance wastewater system improvements

AUSTIN - (October 17, 2012) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution the amount of $3,170,841 to the San Antonio Water System, acting on the behalf of the City of San Antonio (Bexar County), consisting of a loan in the amount of $2,975,000 and $195,841 in loan forgiveness from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund to finance wastewater system improvements.
The San Antonio Water System intends to use the funds to replace existing belt filter presses, sludge feed pumps, and associated equipment and plans to make improvements to four existing digesters.
The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
