AUSTIN – (March 21, 2018) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $21,032,600, consisting of an $8,695,000 loan and $6,464,900 in loan forgiveness from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) and a $1,550,000 loan and $4,322,700 in loan forgiveness from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF), to the City of Cisco (Eastland County).

In addition to the loan forgiveness, the financial assistance could save the District approximately $5 million over the life of the loans.

The $8,695,000 loan and $6,464,900 in loan forgiveness provided by the DWSRF will allow the City to design and construct a 2-million-gallon-per-day surface water treatment plant. The current treatment plant was destroyed by flooding in June 2016 and the City is using a temporary plant to provide water to its residents.

With the $1,550,000 loan and $4,322,700 in loan forgiveness from the CWSRF, the City will construct two new lifts stations and a wastewater treatment plant capable of producing reuse effluent.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
