Texas Water Development Board approves $5 million to the Canyon Regional Water Authority (Atascosa, Bexar, Caldwell, Comal, Guadalupe, Hays, and Wilson counties) for water system improvements

AUSTIN – (April 6, 2017) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $5 million from the Texas Water Development Fund to the Canyon Regional Water Authority (Atascosa, Bexar, Caldwell, Comal, Guadalupe, Hays, and Wilson counties). The assistance will finance water system improvements.

The Authority could save approximately $83,000 over the life of the loan by using the Texas Water Development Fund.

With the assistance approved today, the Authority will finance planning, design, and construction costs for a pilot study project at the Hays Caldwell Water Treatment Plant. The pilot study will include a full-scale pilot ozone production facility and construction of a new ozone system, electrical building, storage tank, and pump station.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
