AUSTIN – (October 14, 2014) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) will hold a work session in Abilene at the Moody Center, Room 108, Hardin-Simmons University Campus, 2317 Hickory Street, on October 21, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. The Board will be briefed on a variety of issues related to the TWDB.
Over the past few months, the TWDB has been traveling the state holding work sessions in multiple locations. These sessions provide the public a close-to-home opportunity to comment before the Board on the agency and its programs. The sessions also help inform the public about the TWDB and its many programs.
The Board will consider approving financial assistance for a water reuse system in Wichita Falls, as well as a storage tank project in a subdivision of Laredo. The Board will also hear updates on the rule development process for state water plan funding and drought conditions across the state and an overview of the State Water Plan Interactive Website. In addition, the Board will consider authorizing solicitation for applications for two grant programs, one for flood planning and another for regional water and wastewater facility planning.
The TWDB encourages the public to attend the work session.
The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
