Texas Water Development Board approves $248,844 in financial assistance to the City of Huntington (Angelina County) to finance wastewater system improvements

AUSTIN - (December 5, 2013) - The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $248,844 to the City of Huntington (Angelina County) consisting of a $125,000 loan and $123,844 in loan forgiveness from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund to finance wastewater system improvements. This is one of five projects approved by the board this month that is designated a rural water project.

The City of Huntington intends to use the funds to finance planning and design costs of renovations to the city's wastewater treatment plant.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
