Texas Water Development Board approves a $3,245,393 loan to the City of McAllen (Hidalgo County) to finance wastewater system improvements

AUSTIN - (April 18, 2013) - The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution a loan in the amount of $3,245,393 to the City of McAllen (Hidalgo County) consisting of a loan in the amount of $2,995,000 and $250,393 in loan forgiveness from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund to finance wastewater system improvements.

The City of McAllen intends to use the funds for upgrades to both the liquid and solids treatment processes at the South Wastewater Treatment Plant.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
