Texas Water Development Board approves a $28,754,000 loan to the Coastal Water Authority to finance water system improvements

AUSTIN - (January 31, 2013) - The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution a loan in the amount of $28,754,000 to the Coastal Water Authority (Harris County) from the State Participation program to finance water system improvements.
The Coastal Water Authority intends to use the funds to plan, design, and construct the Luce Bayou Interbasin Transfer Project to meet the surface water demands of the metro Houston area. This project is a recommended strategy in the 2012 State Water Plan.
The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
