Texas Water Development Board approves $500,000 in financial assistance to the Orange County Water Control and Improvement District No. 2 to finance wastewater system improvements

AUSTIN – (December 6, 2012) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution a loan in the amount of $500,000 to Orange County Water Control and Improvement District No. 2 (Orange County) from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund to finance wastewater system improvements.
The Orange County Water Control and Improvement District No. 2 intends to use the funds to plan, permit and design a lift station, and a force main to redirect the wastewater treatment plant’s discharge from Adams Bayou to the Sabine River. In addition, the district intends to improve hydraulics and reliability to prevent its key equipment from being submerged during storm events.
The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
