Texas Water Development Board approves a $500,000 loan to the Matagorda County Water Control and Improvement District No. 2 to finance water system improvements

AUSTIN - (February 2, 2012) - The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution a $500,000 loan from the Texas Water Development Fund to the Matagorda County Water Control and Improvement District No. 2 (Matagorda County) to finance water system improvements.

The treatment facilities of the Matagorda County Water Control and Improvement District No. 2 (District) are severely deteriorated. With these funds, the District plans to construct two ground storage tanks, two hydropneumatic tanks, booster pumps, chlorination facilities, and an office and storage building. With completion of these improvements, the District intends to ensure compliance with state minimum water supply requirements.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
