Twin Oaks Reservoir (Brazos River Basin)

Service Spillway of Twin Oak Reservoir (Photo provided by Freese and Nichols, Inc.)Twin Oaks Reservoir is located about two miles west of Bald Prairie in Robertson County, on Duck Creek, a tributary of the Navasota River which is a tributary to the Brazos River.  The reservoir is owned and operated by Texas Power and Light Company for industrial (cooling for their steam generating power plant) and recreational purposes.  Authorization (Water Right Permit) for this reservoir was issued on July 1, 1974.  Construction of the dam was completed by general contractor, URS/Forrest and Cotton, Inc. in 1982.  The dam is an earthfill embankment of 7,700 feet long.  The reservoir has a conservation storage capacity of 30,319 acre feet encompassing a surface area of 2,330 acres at the conservation elevation of 401 feet above mean sea level.  The dam controls a drainage area of about forty five square miles.
