Texas Water Development Board approves $6,345,000 to the Bastrop County Water Control and Improvement District No. 2 (Bastrop County) for water system improvements and the purchase of a wastewater system

AUSTIN - (May 5, 2016) - The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of a $6,345,000 loan from the Texas Water Development Fund to the Bastrop County Water Control and Improvement District No. 2 (Bastrop County). The District will be able to finance water system improvements and complete the purchase of a wastewater system with the assistance approved today.
With the assistance approved today, the District will be able to finance planning, design, and construction costs associated with improvements at its water treatment plant. The District will also be able to purchase the Tahitian Village wastewater system from the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA). By purchasing the system, the District can maintain control of the service, cost, maintenance, and operations of the system.
The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
