AUSTIN - (March 21, 2016) - The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of a $2,720,000 loan from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund to the City of Granbury (Hood County). The City will be able to finance planning, design, and construction costs associated with water system improvements.

The City could save approximately $589,000 over the life of the loan by using the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund.

The City will install Automated Meter Reading and Advanced Meter Infrastructure systems with the assistance approved today. The City will also finance a leak detection system that will work within the metering system. When complete, the project will reduce unaccounted or unbilled water losses and provide the City with real-time information on water leaks or high usage.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
