Texas Water Development Board approves $2,057,442 to the Sequoia Improvement District (Harris County) for wastewater system improvements

AUSTIN – (January 19, 2016) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $2,057,442, consisting of a $1,380,000 loan and $677,442 in loan forgiveness, from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund to the Sequoia Improvement District (Harris County). The District will be able to finance the planning, design, and construction costs associated with wastewater system improvements.
In addition to the savings from loan forgiveness, the District could save approximately $243,505 over the life of the loan by using the Clean Water State Revolving Fund.
The District will rehabilitate its sewer infrastructure and replace approximately 18,500 linear-feet of pipeline with the assistance approved today.
The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
