AUSTIN - (July 10, 2014) - The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution a loan in the amount of $375,000 from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund to the City of El Campo (Wharton County). The assistance will allow the City of El Campo to finance water system improvements.
El Campo could save approximately $52,000 over the life of the loan by using the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund.
El Campo is experiencing low water pressure problems in its potable water distribution system. The assistance approved by TWDB will allow the city to complete the planning, land acquisition, and design for construction of a new 12-inch potable water distribution line and 300,000 gallon elevated water storage tank and booster pump station. The new distribution line will replace an existing deteriorated line.
The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
